ABOUT ME
MY STORY
Daina Fischer is a Lithuanian/American dramatic soprano based in Chicago. She has sung all over the Midwest and also internationally, working with renowned conductors, coaches, and teachers. Daina enjoys performing opera, musical theater, jazz, and a cappella music. As a soloist, she has a dynamic stage presence and can perform a variety of different genres.
She also works as a successful choral singer in the Chicagoland area, serving as a section leader for choirs at various religious institutions, and has sung with Grant Park Chorus and the Tower Chorale. Daina is active in the Lithuanian community in Chicago and has sung with the choral ensemble “Dainava” both as a soloist and choral member, performing in Lithuania and in Chicago.
In 2018, she, along with two friends, formed a vintage vocal trio called "The Peppermint Patties". The Patties love classic vintage vocal trios with tight harmonies inspired by the Andrews Sisters and Golden Age Music Theater. In 2025, The Patties competed in and won the Chicago Harmony Sweeps Competition with an original a cappella arrangement of music by The Andrews Sisters. The Patties are one of the most sought-after vocal groups in the Chicagoland area for private events and produce original cabaret shows!
Alongside her love of performing, Daina has been a voice teacher for over twelve years. She currently works at Ovation Theater Academy for the Performing Arts in Oak Park, IL, as a voice coach, class instructor, and music director. During her last two years there she has grown her studio to over 25 students and has directed seven shows. Daina has dedicated much of her teaching career to developing and nurturing younger voices and specializes in gender-affirming voice care. She also teaches privately from her home and online.
Daina holds an MFA in Vocal Performance from DePaul University and is considering getting her Phd in vocal pedagogy, specializing in holistic voice training and gender-affirming voice care. She is fluent in Lithuanian and semi-fluent in French, German, and Italian.
Daina lives in Oak Park with her basset hound named Josephine and three fuzzy felines, Henry, Winifred, and Figaro. When not teaching or performing, Daina enjoys traveling, exploring antique shops, going out dancing with friends, attending as much live music as possible, starting craft projects with her roommate, and trying new restaurants in the city. She was born here in Chicago and loves living and working in this beautiful city. Daina holds dual citizenship in Lithuania and hopes to return someday.
